A sweet, crispy phyllo pie filled with tart cherries — a beloved Serbian dessert, perfect with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Ingredients:
- 500g sour cherries (fresh or frozen, pitted)
- 250g phyllo dough
- 150g sugar
- 100ml oil
- 50g breadcrumbs
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F).
- In a bowl, mix cherries with sugar.
- Grease a baking pan. Lay one sheet of phyllo, brush with oil, sprinkle breadcrumbs.
- Add another sheet, repeat.
- Place a line of cherries along one side of the sheet, roll into a log.
- Repeat until done, arranging rolls in the pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.
